@stawskarma 100% and tbh, it’s dangerous. I’ve seen it start from minis upwards, making it a systemic cultural issue that undermines the foundations for worlds teams but it could be fixed by separating the scoresheet into separate execution and difficulty scores that are evenly weighted.
i can’t remember the last time i saw both phenomenal technique and reasonable difficulty. in recent years cheer has been getting sloppier and sloppier, esp with teams focusing WAY too much on themes and showmanship over actually executing skills properly.
@FLOSMOLESS I would also argue that adding a COP and a less vague scoring system would help that a lot too since the world's scoring sheet is comparative meaning the scoring would depend on who is at the competition they attend.
@BannedCatMakeup Another problem is that we don’t need to separate scoresheets. The end goal for every athlete is to get to the cheerleading worlds. So in that case, every routine should be scored like a worlds routine in order for the athlete to get better.
Cheer needs a proper code of points. The current system is too vague. Each skill weather it be stunt/tumbling skill should be given a value. Give a set amount of bonus points for synchronization.
The only thing that should even remotely be subjective is performance.
For cheer to gain international traction and "status", there needs to be consistency across all federations/orgs. Guidelines should apply to everyone.
Take the open age grid for example: you want open to be 18+? Great. All countries need to abide by that, not just the US.
@somerealjuice@kimberlyarchie@DanaStorms There’s obviously also no matter how you hack it tumbling is gymnastics, but on a purely governance technical level, allstar cheer is operating in a grey area that means by IOC definition, allstar isn’t recognised as cheeeading by them and would be a gymnastics style lol 🙃
@somerealjuice@kimberlyarchie@DanaStorms Now honey, I’m gonna hold your hand, you might need to sit down but there’s a reason FIG and ICU had to sign an agreement for ICU to be part of SportAccord that says cheer must include chant or it trepasses into gymnastics territory - think about what allstar cheer lacks. 🫣🤪
Some say the usasf is changing and is better than ever. 🤔
But how much has it really changed when the person who was the fox guarding the hen house during all the sexual abuse, the person who had shut down conversations and is a bully herself is still involved!!!
No Thank You, I’m sticking to my morals and ethics! Fooling me once was enough for me! Good luck to everyone else that continues down that path though.
(And those are all real things I’ve witnessed on comp floors in the last two years here because we can use real music, so don’t try and say “coaches would never”💀)
Dear Americans,
You don’t want the ability to use real music in your mixes back unless you to want to see mini & tiny teams use the chorus of 3 by Brittany Spears, When I Grow Up by PCD or the line “undress me everywhere” in Barbie Girl.💀
Today in CT 📰
• Stingrays hosted their worlds skills clinic
• Jasmine Moore has become the first US woman to quality for both the olympic Triple jump and Long jump.
• NPZ will most likely by posting every other day, unless something post-worthy happens 🫶
@piinkout For different reasons, but 100% but tbh the gold ones were worse - they photographed as skin tone which TG knew but continued to put them in and I have so many questions for Rebel Athletic as the design & manufacturers of them about child safety tbh 😬
@NBCSports It's also why the minimum age for all Olympic sports should be 18. It's much easier for bad faith adults to take control of the narrative and exploit minors when you have minors involved. Unfortunately, so many adults ignore the warning signs.
@NBCSports Also, I am worried about MH and her crew using HR's Olympic moment it as a "gatcha" moment to her former athletes particularly the ones who spoke out or the ones who bore the brunt of her torture.
But also @NBCSports has not learned from the Karolyi era and they are completely covering up abuse as we speak.
My other concern is the previous coach (MH) using a way to insert herself into this this somehow using it to downplay abuse because "Olympic gymnast's family liked me"
Sorry but the positive coverage around her Dad, completely erasing the things he said makes it extremely hard to be happy about the selection.
Like it or not, especially when there is a minor involved, shitty parents are centered and often their shitiness is erases.
not everyone is put on a team to be an all around athlete. everyone has a specific thing they are on the team for or are better at. it’s okay to not be an all around athlete. and no, it doesn’t make you less than someone who is. be nicer to people :)
