I teased this a couple days ago, but now I'm ready to share the Ashevillagers project for @blueridgeruby (inspired by the @sfrubyconf Clouds app). @midnightmonster kindly volunteered to take on this project! 🙏 Here's our *actual* kickoff call. 😄

Call with @jeremysmithco this morning about a surprise-and-delight project for @blueridgeruby. To be built in public, which does limit the surprise—but hopefully it's a full dose of delight.
Job post is for senior Rails position, but we're open to all experience levels, and I'm looking for strength on the front end, so I'm considering JS devs as well.
Mention my handle in your application to make sure I see it!
Do you know any good Rails or JS devs (any experience level) interested in working on a very small team building new apps to make the litigation process smoother for people injured by big companies?

@nontechpodcast disappointed that you’re going on hiatus, but Laura I was so happy for your WordCamp experience. I smiled to hear about your family trip and suddenly-calm talk-giving. Awesome win.
Pushed version 0.5 of my activerecord-summarize gem for transparently combining many reporting queries into one fast query. This release improves documentation and adds a quality-of-life convenience for working with ChainableResult.

@mandrillapp Since Feb 28, ~11:30 PM Eastern, we've been seeing some SMTP sends fail with "452 4.3.1 Insufficient system storage". Ironically, we also get exception emails sent via Mandrill that let us know about the failures, so maybe just one server?
A consultant could list pieces of the puzzle you'll need, challenges that'll come up, things to make sure your developer has an answer/plan/plausible-plan-to-make-a-plan for. Take care that your advisor has experience with your context: you don't need k8s for a Wordpress plugin.
@nontechpodcast looking at a dev to hire/ask for advice:
💚success w/diverse projects & tech
⎯💚bonus if they've worked on a similar project
💚some tech they love, especially if…
⎯💚scoped to "…for X,Y,Z"
⎯💚they can also list downsides
💚humility re: what they've not done
Re: impartial consultant to define your tech stack, [dis]approving a proposal may be more appropriate than define. There are good and not so good choices for a project, but among the ok-to-good choices, human/org factors will dominate technical ones.
@hauleth Finally got back to the tab of https://t.co/nk4MIUjkik I had saved since…maybe January. Thanks! I learned a bunch about systemd and how I could use with Elixir to skip the Docker mess. If you get around to part 2 or 3, I look fwd to reading.
@mjwhansen before changing anything, look at your records and count how often things go wrong in which way. Is it mostly first-time charges that have problems, expired cards, mystery?
@mjwhansen re: pay as you go, we started with charging right away every time (monthly invoices not reasonable for our app) and to save fees moved to batching small tx until the total pending >$10–but only if we’ve successfully charged this card before.
@LandsEnd after checkout, a 4-stage modal with your colors popped up offering unrelated products from third parties. There was another offer on the order summary itself. I'm sure someone thought this was a no-cost way to increase revenue, but it costs in your brand image.
