The Prodigy - No Good (Start the Dance) (1994)
Second extract as a single from their classic second album, Music for the Jilted Generation, issued on the XL Recordings label. Samples Kelly Charles' You're No Good for Me. NME ranked this as one of "100 Best Songs of the 1990s".
De'Lacy - Hideaway (Deep Dish remix) (1995)
One of the biggest club anthems of all time; still sounds great 31 years later. Written by Kevin Hedge and Josh Milan, the track captures the captivating vocals of Rainie Lassiter. As well as reaching the UK Top 10, hit #1 in Italy.
Pulp - Common People (#TOTP 1995)
Classic! From their album, Different Class, the song was released as the lead single. Renowned for becoming a defining track of the Britpop movement. Reached #2 in the UK & voted best Britpop song in polls by Rolling Stone and BBC Radio 6.
Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy (#TOTP 1991)
CLASSIC! Due to the Gulf War, the group were temporarily billed as just "Massive". The second single from the band's first album, Blue Lines, it featured a magnificent lead vocal by Shara Nelson (who also co-wrote it). #Legends
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Summertime (#SoulTrain 1991)
35 years ago!! I remember buying this on cassette single in Woolworths; was only 11. A Grammy-Award-winning all-time hip hop classic, famously sampling Kool & The Gang's masterpiece 'Summer Madness'. Still love it.
Deee-Lite - Groove Is in the Heart (1990)
All time classic! Fun, quirky & utterly infectious to this day. Also features the legendary Bootsy Collins providing guest vocals + there's a rap courtesy of Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest. A worldwide major club and commercial hit. 🕺
The Shamen - Move Any Mountain (1991)
Still my favourite by The Shamen. Originally released as Pro›gen, a remix by The Beatmasters and a re-release saw the song fly up to #4 in the UK Singles Chart. From their fourth album, En-Tact, the video was filmed in Tenerife. Love it!
