@CynicalPublius@infantrydort I saw it in the early morning (still dark out) and during a late October snow squall. I still remember the sense of awe I felt as the mountain came into view!
@jmasseypoet Have you seen the photo of it standing between U Chicago’s gothic beauty and Lake Michigan? IMO, it’s really a crime against nature! The lake really highlights what it lacks.
@SwipeWright It looks like it still has blue eyes, so it’s very young. I found one very new young fawn trapped in a fenced off area surrounding a drain last year. A bad storm was threatening, and I got it out. Its mama appeared once I got out of the way.
@EvaLovesDesign My grandma made the pink dress on the right in a pink and white sprigged cotton for me. I wore it in my town’s Fourth of July Parade when I was 8 years old!
@babybeginner@MidnightDawgs Yesterday, I tried to buy a 12-pack of water. It didn’t scan as a unit & the checker told me she needed to take each bottle out to scan them individually. I suggested she scan one bottle and multiply the price by 12. She said that wouldn’t charge the correct amount 😩.
@jr_tnd@tbojo10 Baltimore Country Club. His wife brings her security (wearing dark suits in the Maryland summer, no less) to the pool and tennis courts.
@KristinCarrigg I’m not an “art person,” but I bought this oil painting recently. It’s called “Pears.” The juxtaposition of the fruit and the beautiful young woman seems fitting!
@jmasseypoet Thx for standing up for the ducklings. Ineffectual parents suck! Too bad they didn’t try to stomp a Canada Gosling or a cygnet. Those parents would have taught all of them a lesson they would not soon forget!
@Romy_Holland@DanielleFong Lawrence Stone’s “The Family, Sex and Marriage in England: 1500-1800” gives a good account of child birth including the changes in infant/maternal mortality in early modernity, if you are interested. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. I know it’s hard, but I think it is worth it!
@meghaverma_art I taught my boys to say “I beg your pardon” when they weee young, which was also adorable coming out of the mouths of babes. Also, in my opinion, it is more polite than “Excuse me.”
