Disinformation about an alleged shooting of protesters in Raqqa (AANES)
Turkish media is spreading misinformation about an alleged shooting of protesters in Raqqa.
This morning in Raqqa the celebrations about the fall of Bashar al Assad’s tyrant-regime turned into smaller protests in Raqqa city - the protestors then decided to *protest* in front of the central prison in Raqqa to demand the release of ISIS members (their family members)
As the crowd of protesters tried to enter the prison complex, warning shots were fired. That’s all.
No one was hurt or anything.
Feel free to condemn the SDF for not letting ISIS prisoners be released..
especially now as Turkey is attacking the SDF in Manbij.
This isn’t the best practice - but this practice exists in European, western and basically all countries.
About Raqqa: take my word for it or watch any video about Raqqa on YouTube - the city has frequent attacks of ISIS cells, in many places non-residents can not enter because of hostilities from the locals.
Liberating the former capital of ISIS comes with the mindset of ISIS remaining in parts of the city.
These few, maybe 100-200 protesters are not a reflection of the tens of thousands of people living in Raqqa - it is a reflection of how many families there have members of ISIS in their family - and how many of them still do not believe that what ISIS did was wrong.
@proud_damascene If you want lasting peace, I suggest you forget the Western rhetoric of "left" and "right". Let's say this as an organisation that has helped tens of thousands of Syrian refugees since 2015. And we have never asked anyone if you are 'left' or 'right', what god you believe in...
Our founder, The Duchess of York, visited Learning Without Borders for refugees from #Ukraine in #Hungary last week. We're very proud to support this school, which hosts nearly 50 pupils and was founded by Hungarian charity, @migrationaidorg. #migrationaid#learningwithoutborders
"I raise my hat to the Hungarian families, and to the Ukrainians I say: I am with you.” Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, visited Migration Aid's facility for Ukrainian refugee children.
Our Refugee Hostel in Budapest, Hungary, the largest volume project in the history of Migration Aid, is a month old this week.
Perhaps one of the most beautiful examples of human solidarity and cooperation in the Ukrainian refugee crisis in Hungary.

Israeli private intelligence firm Black Cube was involved in a campaign to discredit NGOs ahead of Hungary’s April 2018 election, according to a former Black Cube employee & a person with knowledge of company's inner workings. My story for @POLITICOEurope. https://t.co/QFVWn2OWlO
Foreign spies meddled in Hungary's election, hoping to smear aid workers who help refugees, but they didn't know they were being recorded too. https://t.co/nmpfqQGJmY Here's two of the operatives trying to get @siewertandras to organize refugee protests https://t.co/PkCruZ2cBi
