It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that we announce that our beloved corgi superdog, Ein, tragically passed away on Monday morning May 11th. He was 11 years old and unexpectedly died after acute liver failure, despite 16 hours of round-the-clock treatment and no serious prior conditions. In the end, the treatment unfortunately didn’t improve his condition beyond helping keep him comfortable during his final moments.
Lorraine spent most of Mother’s Day sleeping on an ER ICU floor, trying to understand what had gone wrong. We still don’t know, and we may never know. What first seemed like simple indigestion and stomach issues quickly turned into our worst nightmare, and we honestly don’t know how long it’ll take for us to properly heal from this.
For anyone who knows us even a little bit, you know how deeply loved Ein was. He marked the beginning of one of the most important chapters of our lives when we first moved in together.
And we made sure Ein became part of every important chapter after that too.
He was literally our wedding logo. He became an ambassador for SF Corgi Con and even Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series — the very show he got his name from — inspiring over 150,000 people to sign a petition for a second season.
Ein pushed us to go on more outdoor adventures, many of which became core memories for our children, especially during the pandemic.
Our kids also did their best to help care for him, learning the responsibility of making sure Ein always had food and water — the bare essentials for survival.
And during some of the darkest days of the pandemic, there was Ein… always smiling in the same spot every morning, providing unconditional emotional support and reminding us that life was eventually going to get better.
Everyone at Lorraine’s work loved Ein whenever she brought him in. He brought smiles to so many people and somehow made stressful days feel lighter just by being there. Over the years, so many friends, coworkers, and loved ones became Ein’s second family — watching over him while we traveled, checking in on him, and loving him like he was their own. He touched far more lives than we ever realized.
We’ll miss his “announcements” every time someone comes to the door. We already miss his nightly kitchen clean-up duties whenever crumbs hit the floor. Some days, we barely even leave the house now — something that would’ve been impossible before because of our daily walks with him.
Belonging is one of the greatest things in life, and Ein truly belonged with us. He WAS family. He was our first “child” — a humble soul with the best smile, even during the darkest moments.
Even in his final minute of life, Ein was still smiling.
He was a soldier… our soldier. Even immense pain could not break his spirit.
The day after Ein passed, we prayed to Mother Mary in a courtyard beside St. Joachim’s Church, the closest church to us. Right after the prayer, we immediately heard barking. We looked around and couldn’t find where it was coming from. No dogs were in sight. But we think we know what it meant.
Ein had finished his journey across the rainbow bridge and into the light.
A few days later, Lorraine was sitting in a coffee shop when she noticed a corgi that looked strikingly similar to Ein. His name was JJ, and he was 13 years old. His owner shared that he was scheduled to undergo surgery that same week. In that moment, it somehow felt like another reminder to cherish every extra second we get with the ones we love.
We’re incredibly blessed that our children were able to spend their entire lives so far with their “brother,” and we know they’ll never forget him. We hope all of you won’t either.
Ein represented the very best of our family.
Thank you, Ein, for teaching us some of life’s most important lessons:
• Be present and live in the moment
• Practice gratitude
• Forgive and don’t hold grudges
• Be loyal and trustworthy — sometimes that’s all you have
• Accept yourself
• Love unconditionally
Thank you to Judy Neuhaus for allowing us to give Ein the best life we could.
He truly changed our lives and it’s so sad that we weren't able to properly say goodbye and give him one last adventure here on Earth.
We love you Ein.
See you, Space Cowboy.

It seems like a broken record saying that the Warriors have been targeting Giannis Antetokounmpo for the last decade, but if there is any time for them to sacrifice all of their future assets for him, it's right now with Jimmy Butler's injury.
This may be their only chance.
The Warriors should be planning to use Jimmy Butler’s $54.1M salary to seek upgrades on the trade market following Butler’s unfortunate season-ending injury.
Anthony Davis, who also holds a $54.1M salary this season, would be one target to closely monitor in Golden State.

Quick halftime video for #DubNation on the left hamstring strain that was reported by the team that Stephen Curry suffered. There are multiple factors that determine the return to play timeline that the medical staff will determine based on exam, imaging, and risk of re-injury.
Quick 🧵on hamstring strains for #DubNation re: the Stephen Curry news.
1. Important thing to understand is that a "strain" is some degree of tearing of the hamstring muscle.
2. Return to play is determined by grade (grade 1 = micro tear, grade 2 = partial tear, grade 3 = complete tear), location (muscle belly is better than higher up in the leg), number of hamstring muscles involved, cross sectional area involved, and degree of fluid / swelling.
3. We did a study (below) looking at these injuries in NBA players over a 5 year period and the mean time missed was ~ 6 games. This doesn't mean that Curry can't be back sooner but it's all based on the factors above.

I've watched Steph Curry play his entire career since his rookie season, and cannot ever recall him dealing with a hamstring injury. This is completely foreign territory. Again, all you can do is pray it's the most minor strain.
I think Jimmy Butler is going to be listed as questionable at best for Saturday’s game if the Warriors are expecting that this injury isn’t worse than what Curry had to deal with. MRI results still coming…
“This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”
