2/ 🍎 Agriculture Booms
LATAM’s agriculture thrives on U.S. demand:
Mexico leads in avocados, tomatoes, and berries.
Brazil dominates in beef and soybeans.
🌿 However, reliance on monoculture farming for export leads to:
Deforestation in the Amazon.
Land inequality, as large companies buy up farmland.
1/ 💵 The U.S. is LATAM’s Largest Trading Partner:
In 2022, the U.S. imported $779 billion worth of goods from Latin America, including oil, food, and metals.
The U.S. drives LATAM’s economy—but does that reliance limit diversification?
@Motoman00793125 Yeah the quote means the threat of tariffs is necessary cause the root cause that Trump is seeking to thwart is already being addressed. (FYI this account is MAGA)
@morganwarstler Important to remember that the drugs coming through Mexico are coming through because there is the demand in the US. And the border is a joke atm, of course. But the US had a drug demand problem.
