@The_Fair_Ground@LeftCapitalist It’s not ownership if you’re paying rent. And the closer tax is to the market rent, the better. So this is misleading messaging that Georgists should avoid with all due respect.
@its_The_Dr An absolute masterpiece and one of my all-time favorites, but it’s a crime to post only a partial video. Here’s the whole thing: https://t.co/PkETXHwFMc
@mewphedrone@LeftCapitalist@cassie_walker19@hoppean05@ilysxmmit@Mantispie No, the principle is that you own what you create, and don't own that you didn't create.
In order to justify private land ownership you have to start adding additional principles for why you can own stuff you didn't create, but none of these are very well justified.
@lymanstoneky An individual may become wealthier through rising land rent (income) capitalized into a higher price, but aggregate societal wealth is unchanged through this process.
@xwanyex Are you in the way of, say Walmart, from earning by buying a piece of their stock or Target’s stock? No. But if you are allowed to own land, you are allowed to be in the way of other’s capability to produce. They are not the same.
@xwanyex You might want to read a bit on Henry George’s philosophy before making assertions. His philosophy is derived from first principles and natural law. https://t.co/JcBqPjlbvZ
