@chef_john1 Eating out has lost its appeal. Inflation has reduced spending, while poor service, inconsistent food quality, and rising prices have made restaurants feel like poor value for money.
@gita_mathew@kelums@tourismlk While attracting more tourists from India can boost overall arrival numbers, their average spending tends to be lower. In contrast, tourists from the ASEAN region often have higher per capita spending, which may contribute more significantly to tourism revenue.
@aruni_t@flysrilankan This route is seasonal, and many prefer LHR over Gatwick, the impact will be lesser and UL operates an additional flight to London during Winter.. the real issue will be when Jetstar starts flights from MEL.
@sonaljay8 Absolutely agree. Over-reliance on three Gulf hubs has left us exposed. This is exactly why regional diversification matters — India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong aren’t just “new markets,” they’re risk management. Time to rebalance our inbound strategy.
You only really understand the importance of a national carrier when a Gulf airline leaves you stranded in Europe.
In times like this, having SriLankan Airlines as a way to get home isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline!
Keeping my fingers crossed that everyone abroad gets back home safely & that SriLankan Airlines gets the the support it needs to truly thrive again. 🇱🇰
@flysrilankan
@aruni_t Unfortunately SLBFE Act (No. 21 of 1985, amended 2009) lets officers check documents only if they have reason to believe someone is leaving for employment without registration.
@NisansaDdS It’s actually funny, the video shows a woman stopped from travelling abroad. By law, only the courts can do that, not random officials. Why isn’t he explaining that, instead of saying they can “check passports”?
@NewsWireLK If so, what’s the criteria to decide who’s traveling for work or leisure? What training equips officers to make that call and why are leisure travelers being subjected to interrogation? @HMVijithaHerath@arunhema19@Dr_HariniA
@gayaradesilva Unbelievable that women still have to justify why they’re travelling abroad explaining every single detail as if they’re doing something wrong. Travel isn’t a crime, and not every woman going overseas is “looking for a job.” The double standards need to stop!
