You don’t get an open mind by trying to acquire all the information, but by delaying the formation of your opinions.
Problem is that opinions are sticky. Once we generate a theory, we are unlikely to change our mind, and find it very hard interpreting conflicting information.

Finally, there's the biggest question of all:
If the black on black rate crime is damn near the same rate as white on white crime; if black people work HARDER and spend more money on it; if the insignificant differences in interracial crime can be explained by poverty...
American history books are like:
Slavery was bad but then Lincoln fixed it 😊
Then, segregation was also bad but Malcolm X didn't need to be so mean about it 😡 but MLK went on a biiig walk and fixed racism! The last racist left killed him 😭 but then he went to jail 🎉 the end
bobby using both his choir and the audience as a loop pedal
"when you can't afford a loop pedal but u have a village"
"its like getting only the good parts of a cult"
"he played the audience better than my ex-girlfriend played me"
so. much. fun!!! 😂❤️

I watched this video over a decade ago and still think about it all the time: Bobby McFerrin teaches the audience to be his backing track and performs a song with them in real time
@DelJohnsonVC@NaithanJones@AlbreyBrown This is what I thought you meant, too. And I don't think it applies here. There's nuance to this shit. And individual's efforts should matter more than the ideology.
@DelJohnsonVC I'm sure this is common, in general. Very skeptical that this applies in this case, though. In any case, that's the *ideal* standard. Until it's applied liberally across all people's endeavors, I'd argue it's counter-productive to demand it from this one.
Everyone who's complaining about riots and thugs needs to re-read their Thomas Paine, who explained 244 years ago that police brutality is worse than riots.
@ChikaUmeadi @therorymurray If bias increases with risk, it seems like re-affirming that bias is the opposite of what you’d want to do. Meanwhile, the value of discovery has unbounded upside, as well as negligible downsides.
I have never been as afraid of anything in my life as I was of our police tonight in DC. The police and military forces on-site acted in a manner that was completely sadistic and utterly un-American. Please read the thread for details. #TrappedDC
Y’all do understand that sit ins were illegal. Sitting at the front of the bus was illegal. Running away as a slave or helping slaves runaway was a crime. Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it’s not the right thing to do.
@Ash_Said_So @webflow We helped design and build https://t.co/pr8tQgYfUK along with some amazing people fighting injustice. Not all black lives though, but definitely linked to racism. Talk to MiAngel Cody, contact info on the site.
