New information has been shared about Punch, a baby monkey living at Ichikawa Zoo in Japan.
Punch was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth. As a result, he was hand-raised by the zoo keepers.
The keepers gave him a plush orangutan toy. Punch sees this toy almost like a mother figure; he hugs it while sleeping, calms down with it when he feels uneasy, and even carries it with him when approaching other monkeys.
In mid-January, Punch successfully joined the other monkey group at the zoo. During his adjustment period with his new companions, he still doesn’t let go of his plush friend.
