7/1/2011 Bobby Bonilla receives his first deferred payment of $1.19 million from the Mets. The deal defers Bonilla’s salary for ten years and pays him annually until 2035. The agreement led to the Mets trading for Mike Hampton and eventually drafting David Wright.
