@musikathi93 This is an excellent point, Kathi! Live covers are not the same due to the idolization of pop stars. Most fans go because of the atmosphere and weaning to see their favorite artist in person. For this reason, concerts will always be popular.
@mohmagableh I agree Mohammad; Young fans go to live shows for the atmosphere and interactions with the musician instead of sound quality. I do not believe live performances will lose their appeal, but it has become less common now than in the past.
I somewhat agree with Wald as you don't see cover artists for hip-hop artists today. The sounds created on records are so unique that someone covering it live cannot capture the same. The young audience still enjoys live music but more for the atmosphere than the sound.#POPMUSF21
@mohmagableh Very true, Mohammed! White artists were able to copy black artists' work directly and use it to grow more than the original due to the color of their skin. This was very unfair to black artists as they were overshadowed by the white musicians for their style of music.
@brooklynmun I agree Brooklyn! I don't think the music has no value due to this, If the proper people receive credit for the music then it can still hold value. The music made by the white artists can be enjoyed knowing that it originated from colour artists.
Schlock is a prime example of cultural theft as white artists covered what was created by black artists but failed to give them any credit. The white artists appealed more to teen audiences allowing them to see more success and money from this music than those of color #POPMUSF21
@collier_jaydon Very true! He is able to use the breaking voice style to bring the attention of listeners to certain aspects of the song and emphasize his point. Being able to hear his passion brings meaning to the listeners.
@HounsellMegan I agree! The breaking voice helps Ray stand out from others as it is a unique sound technique that not many artists use. It helps his listeners connect with him as they can hear and feel the emotion behind the words.
Ray Charles chose to use a breaking voice in his song “I’ve Got a Women” to help his listeners better feel the emotion he is trying to portray. It allows Ray to show his passion for the song and emphasize specific points in the music. #POPMUSF21
@therealnevr I agree it is a big problem that artists are being underpaid. Where users aren't buying the rights to the song, the artist only receives a small amount for each play. For 1000 streams on Spotify, creators are only likely to be paid $3-$5.
@wjneville31 Excellent point, William! With streaming services, you never truly own a song or album; you are simply borrowing it from the service. If you stop paying for the streaming service, you lose your entire music collection, which can be a significant inconvenience. #POPMUSF21
Wireless headsets have entirely changed how we listen to music by allowing users to avoid carrying phones and having cords making it much less restricting when doing on-the-go activities. Headsets like air pods have become somewhat of a status symbol in today’s society.#POPMUSF21
@Faithdavis10 I agree, many forms of popular media only covers the best in artists lives and does not show their flaws. This creates a false need that listeners must also aim to be perfect to achieve this status.
@spurrell27 I agree, Most lyrics in todays popular music just focus on material items which results in its audience creating a false sense of need for these things.
I agree that popular music appeals to a ultimately passive audience as most listeners are just looking for catchy beats and lyrics, and do not partake in the lifestyle. #POPMUSF21 (2/2)
Much of the Popular music and media today focuses on money, drugs, and lust, creating a false need for its viewers to live this lifestyle. (1/2) #POPMUSF21
@antoniojose__ very true! cooking your vegetables takes away much of the nutrients we need. we should eat the majority of are food raw to ensure we are getting the maximum amount of nutrients. #HKR1000
I learned from the "Food Matters" video that its is very easy for vegetables to lose nutrition. After 5 days vegtables lose about 40% of its nutritional value and cooking your vegetables results a lose of up to 50% of its nutrients! #HKR1000
