Trump on Portland ruling: I wasn’t served well by the people who pick judges. I appointed the judge and it goes like that. If he made that decision—Portland is burning to the ground… all you have to do is look at the TV and read your newspapers.

URGENT BREAKING: Governor J.B. Pritzker sounds the alarm as "Trump's invasion" begins in Illinois and our fascist president deploys 400 heavily armed Texas National Guard troops in several blue states.

We just crossed a terrifying historic threshold...

"This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate," Pritzker wrote on X.

"We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops," he continued.

"I call on Governor Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate. There is no reason a President should send military troops into a sovereign state without their knowledge, consent, or cooperation," he went on.

"The brave men and women who serve in our national guards must not be used as political props. This is a moment where every American must speak up and help stop this madness," the governor concluded.

In addition to the Texan troops, Trump is seizing control of at least 300 Illinois National Guard soldiers “effective immediately for a period of 60 days” supposedly to protect federal buildings.

In reality, this is an escalation of Trump's naked authoritarianism and a fulfillment of his promise to wage war on American cities. His presidency is failing, the economy is falling apart, and he knows that he must strike now to seize dictatorial power before his adminsitration collapses completely amidst popular backlash. If he can normalize armed soldiers on our streets, there will be no going back.

This is nothing less than the President of the United States using an army from a red state to invade a blue state. Pritzker is brave to call it like it is. Now, it falls to all of us to stand up, speak out, and save our precious democracy.
