This administration had so much promise but has been profoundly disappointing. Elon said it best, there is zero political will in either party to meaningfully cut spending. Iraq was an enormous mistake and they couldnt have handled deportations any worse. Only bright spots are closing the border and Venezuela. Otherwise, abject failure.

@WalksWallstreet You are not wrong about the level of training, let alone the physical fitness of some of the officers. Also not sure what is worse, shooting with fellow officers in the line of fire or running directly into the line of fire.

@esq_sanders The only thing that bothers me about this is the apparent lack of realistic firearms training in the NYPD. It is a miracle the 2 officers standing behind the suspect didnt get shot. And why in god's name does the one female officer run directly into the line of fire?

If you watch carefully, the guy doesnt know how to even properly grip the pistol. His loose grip looks like it induces a stoppage. This is known as limp wristing where a too loose grip can cause a failure to cycle on some pistols. He then violates every basic safety rule for handling a firearm (let alone range rules) and points a loaded pistol at this face. Cant see exactly what happens after that because of the firing port screen which doesnt look bullet proof and strangely doesnt extend to the ground. this is some crazy substandard half assessed range. Usually there is a range safety officer but I don't see one here. He would have screamed at the guy immediately just for not pointing the pistol down range. No way to tell of your "instructor" was anything other than the woman's friend. But he is definitely NOT a range safety officer. Terrible that it happened but this was all the user's fault and was easily preventable had he followed basic safety protocols. Instructor or not no one was responsible here except the guy who accidentally shot himself.

@TimMerchan77589 @MinuteofZombie only a fraction are deployable at any one time which is the reason for the recent extended deployments which in turn is causing more downtime and less availability. And to Missleman's point, the cupboard is getting pretty bare of Standard missiles to protect them.
