Rahotep and Nofret (Old Kingdom, 4th Dynasty) were built to LOOK back: rock-crystal/quartz inlays, copper outlines, and pigment so intact it still reads as skin.
When their sealed tomb at Meidum was opened in 1871, workers reportedly recoiled, convinced the couple was alive.
So here’s the uncomfortable question:
If Egypt could manufacture presence like this 4,500 years ago… what else are we underestimating about the Old Kingdom?
