1989: Margaret Thatcher, "Water privatisation I believe will go very successfully indeed. It will go very successfully indeed"
2026: BBC News, "Both terminals at the UK's second busiest airport, Gatwick, are without running water.. Toilets can't be flushed"
Bonus clip, Neil Kinnock in 1989, "When is the Conservative government going to stop asset stripping the country?"
Hi @andyburnham any answer to Neil KInnock's question? Are we renationalising water companies any time soon?
There is simply no basis for any MP - inc grandstanding Labour dissidents - to vote for @Keir_Starmer to go to the privileges committee. It's in black & white that he followed the rules. This is the first socialist govt since the 2000s - you want to destabilise it for what?
Is there any chance we could book JD Vance to come over durning the next British elections and give support to Farage and reform. Just like he gave support to Orban in Hungary?
London Has Fallen !! Crime Out Of Control !! It's a War Zone !!
Oh, wait, as you were, here's Canada's PM Mark Carney, wife Diana Fox, President of Finland Alex Stubb and wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb running yesterday morning in Hyde Park with almost no security and not a care ...
Tory anti-union laws are going in the shredder - thanks to the Employment Rights Act. 🔥🌹
Now let's finish the job, and deliver the New Deal for Working People in full.

@AllisonPearson Pretty sure the threshold was 55k before so doesn’t seem too drastic imo. Some countries you pay 40% after 25k and they have forced pension
@AllisonPearson People forget how marginal bands work. Crossing a threshold does not turn your whole income into the higher rate. Only the slice above it changes. That detail matters if we want a real discussion about fairness.
@JohnSimpsonNews Well said John. Not to justify the terrible slip from standards that control and by which the BBC charter requires its news coverage to adhere to. But to try and get perspective into a biased onslaught of vested interest (private news corporations).
Bloody immigrants coming here and…oh. Saving our lives. What an absolute hero.
Hoping he gets better as soon as possible so he can receive the thanks he so clearly deserves.
I’ve been very critical of Sir Keir Starmer, but it is moving to hear him talk about the grief of losing his younger brother and the role music played in helping him deal with that grief. I think many of us can relate to that in some way.
My colleagues & I have taken a huge gamble to set up @thenerve_news. We’re trying to build a new independent publication from the ground up. Social media is our only distribution for now.
Sharing this article in your networks would make a huge difference. Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
This is a lie.
There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.
But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.
