Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of life and for the grace that carries us through each day. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
Today, we surrender our plans, our worries, our dreams, and our decisions into Your hands. Order our steps and guide our thoughts. Align our hearts with Your will and help us walk in obedience, faith, and confidence.
We declare that Your goodness and mercy surround us. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Let every obstacle be removed and every crooked path be made straight.
May this day be filled with open doors, divine favor, meaningful connections, and testimonies that glorify Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray
KRA wants a share of money your wife sends you.
There is a guy called Kamau.
When it was time to buy his wife, he paid dowry north of 8 million shillings.
It was the most grand ruracio.
For the rest of the year, the lady became the talk and song of Gatundu South. Furaha ribo ribo karibu imalize bibi.
Out of joyful fury for her husband, she decided to take revenge.
She called Kamau. Violently. Akajishika kiuno. Pointed at her phone. Akamwambia, key in your account number here.
Kamau, thinking his wife was playing games, keyed it in.
A few seconds later. His phone whistled. 10 million shillings has landed in his account. Cash money.
Kamau could not believe it. Bibi anakupatia aje pesa? Aje? Kwani ni makosa gani anajaribu kuficha?
He thought he was dreaming. He pinched himself to see whether he would wake up. He did not wake up. The money was real.
• Lesson 1: Pay your wife's dowry. I will not teach you everything.
I have no clue how KRA sensed it. But sometime later, Kamau was selected for a tax audit.
KRA went straight for his bank statements. They found the deposits of 10 million shillings.
Immediately, they baptized the entire amount as undeclared taxable income.
Then demanded: 30% income tax. Plus penalties and interests.
- Total bill: 3 million shillings plus.
When Kamau saw the tax bill, he thought his magnifying spectacles had been hacked to magnify the numbers. He removed them. He saw the same mad numbers live live. He went nuts.
When he returned to the real world. He shipped a protest letter to KRA.
He explained that the sender was his wife.
He explained that the money consisted of soft loans, financial assistance and funding from her.
He explained that he had not sold anything to her.
He explained that the money was not payment for any goods or services.
He even attached a sworn affidavit from his wife confirming all of it.
But KRA could not hear any of it. They only wanted 3 million.
When Kamau saw KRA was not playing, he ran to court.
He told the Tribunal judges:
- My Lords, I have explained my relationship with the sender.
- I have explained the nature of the money.
- I have attached sworn affidavits.
- What more does KRA want from me?
KRA responded.
And claimed Kamau had never submitted any affidavits.
Kamau calmly produced his correspondence with KRA. The affidavit was there. Duly received by KRA.
The whole court room went dead silent.
The judges looked at the documents.
Then turned to Kamau and ruled:
- Kamau had discharged his burden of proof in full.
- He had provided both documentary, accounting and explanatory evidence regarding his bank deposits.
-It found that KRA had acted unreasonably by ignoring and disregarding that evidence.
- And most importantly: Income tax is a tax on income. It is not a tax on anything else. Such as financial assistance between spouses.
The 3 million tax demand was killed.
Kamau won.
• Lesson 2.
- Not every bank deposit is taxable income.
- Document everything.
- KRA will push. Push back hard.

Our children are being stolen. Between Jan 2025–Mar 2026, Kenya recorded 10,581 child protection cases,1,952 abductions, 173 trafficking cases. That is 23 children a day.
Last week in Githurai, a 2-year-old was kidnapped by a teenager sent to steal a child for a phone. In Juja, residents shut down the Thika Superhighway after 4 children vanished in two weeks. In Central Kenya, 372 violence-against-children incidents in under a year. This is a national emergency.
The Penal Code provides for life imprisonment for kidnappers. I want to see DCI and DPP match that seriousness with urgent investigations and full prosecutions, not just press releases.
To every Kenyan, watch the children around you. Speak up and report because if we do not protect our children, we have failed at the most fundamental duty of a society. Our children are not a footnote. They are our future.
