@katestorrs @katiehgreenaway In NZ the examiners signal a recommendation in the report, but they only finalize following the defense. So even if it’s a perfect thesis, it’s good to signal some proving discussion points for the oral. Many a thesis is also saved considerable emendations due to a good defense.

@katestorrs @katiehgreenaway Definitely point out typos. Many examiners have either an errata sheet or just send an annotated copy of thesis (print or digital). To me, best reports are those that signal discussions for the defense and prove the rationale for various choices and give clear feedback in errors.
