This includes a letter from me, after Labour's appalling suspension of seven MP's supporting calls for an urgent reduction in child poverty. It is certainly a changed Labour Party
@CouncillorTudor A huge loss. His views and mine differed on several issues but he recognised the value of debate and dialogue, based on his core beliefs. Sadly, Labour is very different today
A good 1st day of @britsoci conference: my paper on the Cornwall housing crisis, with another by @AtasNatalija on student financial hardship; & chairing 2 great sessions including David Byrne & @MelodyZ1996. Good discussions @judithmudd1 @stontian. Thanks!
It was a very enjoyable experience to present my research about rural-to-urban and urban-to-urban migration in China at @britsoci I really appreciated for the lovely chat with David Byrne from Durham University and our chair @mikesheaff
It was great presenting our work on students’ lived experiences of the Cost-of-Living Crisis (@Dabrowski_V) at the @britsoci virtual annual conference. I really enjoyed our discussion with @mikesheaff@judithmudd1 and @stontian #BritSoc24
Another great visit to @NMAPlymouth with our granddaughter today, who is now finding talks interesting - & the seagrass laboratory. Hope staff don't mind the photos
Shocked the Labour Party blocked a former Cllr (Planning Chair & Group Chair) from standing in May's Plymouth City Council elections after her selection as candidate with photos of her on a NHS picket line & Gaza protest as 'evidence'. @MarkSeddon1962@Kevin_Maguire@KatieTimms94
@PressSteveH Thanks & I do understand your concerns. Mine are that in October the council assured us costs would be within the £12.7 million budget. Here's my letter in today's Herald. I just want honesty. I hope we can agree on that. With other demands, public money is not limitless
A letter I had in today's Plymouth Herald urging effective scrutiny of executive decisions after an apparent trebling of costs for the Armada Way project. And an extract from Labour's 2006 White Paper on scrutiny. Times change :( @STRAWPlymouth@plymouthcc
Letters in today's Guardian reinforce the injustice of the Horizon scandal. Mine doesn't focus on this, but the inability of our political system to handle such failures
