It was a real joy to be back on campus at @Milligan_Univ last weekend for my 30th college reunion at Homecoming. Was great seeing so many friends and recalling our days on campus. I even survived the Student vs. Alumni flag football game. Here’s to the Class of 1996. Go Buffs!
It wasn’t right on the number, but thanks @Ford for a fantastic ride in my @ford_machE that now has eclipsed 170,000 miles. This 2021 has to be at the top of the private-owned list for mileage and I’ve loved its reliability and cost efficiency. I’m sold on EVs from now on. #ProudFordMachEowner
@NickiJhabvala Would love for some investigative reporting that gets to the bottom of what was really happening on the headsets. Paid handsomely to be the best at playing and teaching this game, but this leadership group can’t run clock management as well as my 11-year-old on Madden.

@AndyStaples Which is why the federal government needs to step in and stop the shenanigans. The “locals” have created a self-serving model that will bankrupt what’s good about college athletics.
@kevinsheehanDC@JasonKelce This team is snake bit … just unbelievable we can’t catch a break. Every snap it feels like a critical piece of the puzzle goes down.
@Rebelman98@On3@RossDellenger The House needs to have passed this yesterday. That’s how badly it’s needed. The NCAA needs to have its governing authority returned (can’t believe I’m saying this) because clearly the way we’ve been operating the past three years is not sustainable.
One could make the argument that SAs have been receiving compensation all along in tuition, rooms and board. That is compensation even if the media/courts/lawyers say it was not. And yes, even pro sports have caps to keep unscrupulous actors from simply pricing out those with less. We have regulation everywhere in our economic system — except for AI, lol — and this bill will provide those guardrails.
It’s the right thing to do to make the sandbox “equal.” Listen, college athletics is a unicorn. It’s not fully amateur sports anymore, but it’s not pro sports either. Despite what judges want to say. It’s somehow in a space in the middle. It’s a hybrid. But if we are truly doing college athletics for the “greater good” of all the sports programs in a department and all the students on a campus, then capping salaries for everyone — student-athletes, coaches and administrators is something that should be considered.
College athletics is not pro sports despite the media, judges and lawyers trying to make it that way. Here’s why … all of the other athletes and non revenue sports that are part of the department. Pro sports teams have ONE roster to pay/support. College programs have 15-30 more rosters. Also, if there is all this money to go around, why are regular students on these campuses paying “athletic” fees as part of athletic department revenue budgets? If there’s all this money to go around, those should end immediately. But the fact is college sports are intertwined with the overall operations of a university. College sports sit in a unique “middle” between amateur and pro sports. We need to treat it that way. The amateurism of yesteryear may not where we want to be, but the full steam ahead capitalism of the past three years has also been a disaster. It requires something wholly unique that meets as a compromise for everyone.
