@kdenuysturf I converted 3 holes worth of tees to Bermuda on brigantine island. Tahoma 31. Worked great. We are converting the remaining tees to it over course of next two years. No contamination yet but wouldn’t mind if there was lol. Unique growing environment
@JeremyHreben@IndianSpringGC@eveshamtwp Whoa l hope this is a congratulatory message. You were a phenomenal mentor and super and I wouldn’t be where I am without you. I hope you sre moving on to greener pastures man. Wishing you the best in your next endeavor. Whatever it is you will nail it.
@JeremyHreben I stopped using moisture meter as I found myself overwatering because of it. Greens would look great but I would get a "low" number and psychologically feel the need to water it. So now I just go with my gut instinct and the data that I have immediately available
Great picture of turf variety separation. This morning showed me how easy it is (at least for me) during the season to underestimate how much poa there is on a green. Checking greens even during winter is beneficial.
Happy New Years! Hope everyone has a great 2022 and the game of golf continues to grow. Recapturing original bunker edges after 22 years of edging and sloughing from sand build up.
Removing 32 small to medium size trees surrounding the renovated tee on #17. This tee has a more dense turfgrass stand than the prior 22 years after grading and seeding to new bentgrass cultivar. Taking action in December and January to keep it that way in July and August.
Cool to see where original bunker grade and shape was versus how it is today after 22 years of bunker shots and sand build-up. 13" difference between the two.
Seven renovated bunkers and counting this offeason (Better Billy Bunker). All bunkers that had standing water during rain events have now been renovated. White sand + Tall Fescue sod surrounds= beautiful framework for a golf hole.
Several drainage daylights installed vertically during construction. Impossible to build enough water pressure during rain event for the drain to work properly.
Dug a hole and cut pipe 40 feet before original daylight. A 10 min waterfall ensued 😎😎
Converting a fairway bunker from a rough surround to a bentgrass surround. Any tips for maintenance? I assume hand watering edges and hand raking are paramount to longevity.
@__timconnolly@AhooksHooks 17 at Colts neck has a fairway bunker surrounded by rough. Stripping and sodding to a bentgrass surround. One of my favorite course aspects of course design. Excited to hear member response.
