As a hs track coach of close to 39 years in nyc I can honestly say 98 percent of runners if they are polite in a situation like this and just say “I was doing hills” will be told ok just not here by the tracks. It’s dangerous. But yes an attitude will not be taken lightly in a place known for people harming themselves.
