@Jeffrey_Addison@JarrodBleijieMP It could cost double that again and it would still be worth it. I never get the "cost blowout" narrative. Is it vital infrastructure we need for a sustainable future? Yep? good lets build it. Prices change, move on
To any businesses or body corporates out there considering installing #bike parking. Know that if you are physically reachable by bike, people will use it. You will likely free up car parking in doing so as well, bring more people to your business. Build it and they will come.
@7NewsBrisbane@jacquelinrobson We are heading towards LA style traffic due to decades of LA style transport planning.
For too long State and Council have spent the vast majority of funding on road projects, instead of funding public and active transport to a level that provides residents with real choices!
I'm interested to see the wording on these laws. We already have speed limits and you aren't allowed to use a mobile device while riding. Seems like these new laws could be pretty subjective
We're bringing in tougher laws for e-scooters.
It will soon be an offence for a personalised mobility device or an e-scooter to ride without care and attention on footpaths, bike paths and shared paths.
@space4cyclingbn Why was the bridge not just built with pedestrians on one side and cyclists on the other to maximise efficiency and safety? Absolutely crazy to spend that much money and then just treat it as a shared path.
@QueenslandWalks I simply can't believe that we don't have more covered footpaths in South East Qld, given our summer heat and skin cancer rates. Seems like it would be money well spent but never considered
We are in a cost of living crisis. One of the biggest costs is transport due to most people feeling entrapped to drive due to a lack of suitable alternatives.
If our council wants to help with this they could start by providing pop up protected bikelanes so people had a choice!
@Jeffrey_Addison@MarkBaileyMP@SteveMinnikinMP@7NewsSC@9NewsQueensland @railbotforum Maroochydore must be the most dense suburb on the coast right? I would love to understand the logic of not connecting the most dense suburb and most popular beach of the Sunshine coast to the state capitol.....
@MarkBaileyMP @JasonHuntLabor @Sunshine The only way I think this road is sensible is if Nicklin way simultaneously gets light rail, protected bike lanes, high quality footpaths and reduced driving lanes and speed. That is, Nicklin way becomes pedestrian first and high speed traffic gets funneled to the motorway
@MarkBaileyMP @JasonHuntLabor @Sunshine If it's part of a multi-modal plan, will it include some dedicated bike infrastructure? Would be great to have an extra wide, separated bike lane there for road cyclists, considering the current lack of safe cycling infra.
