Don’t ignore the climate emergency and cost of living crisis as you draft energy security plans @BorisJohnson!
❌no new oil & gas production in the UK

@abii_birkett Though hard path to navigate to hold to the Bible’s teachings, allow work & inspiration of Holy Spirit, and work within the realities of life.
@abii_birkett Mulling over this one; interesting role for Western lenses and concepts of ‘family/community’. In the (middle class) West focus on 2.4 children. Would say Biblical and non-Western understanding is much broader.
@abii_birkett Agree with how church has ‘idolised’ marriage (though easy for me to say as a married man). Interestingly, this has come across most strongly for me in reading material from Christian homosexuals/Same Sex Attracted people, who also feel this acutely
@abii_birkett Branding is an interesting one. In my view, society has a certain expectation of professionalism, and equates it with trust and credibility. Church does need to adapt how it does things to connect with culture. But definitely shouldn’t become an obsession
@abii_birkett Naomi is finding it very hard too.
I agree re the welcoming; people who are ‘easy’/fit a mould can land easily and feel loved. But not enough churches can be or want to be flexible enough to love more challenging people/people who don’t fit a mould.
@abii_birkett Naomi is doing/has been doing a chunk of deconstruction too. Mostly relating to her growing up at HV. By wider church, do you mean the churches you’ve been a part of, or church in uk/global?
@abii_birkett @CarissaCaples Keep going with Jesus Abii! Agree with you about some of the words/phrases that get recycled/reused and can feel quite jarring or out-of-place. What do the words say to people who don’t know Jesus, or have none of that language…
