China has 25 billion barrels.

It takes a lot of oil to power your tanks and your jets. If China had any plans to invade Taiwan, they needed access to Venezuelan oil.

Now, do you understand why China was becoming BFFs with Maduro?

Do you think Trump was going to let them take control of the world's largest storage of oil that is located in our own hemisphere?

Beijing needs oil that is not subject to US pressure. That means Russia, Venezuela & Iran. 🇨🇳 has been buying 60-90% of Venezuelan and 85-90% of Iranian crude. That's 30-35% of 🇨🇳's present oil importation.

Another ~35% of 🇨🇳's oil comes from Arab suppliers subject to US guidance or pressure.

With new governments in Venezuela and Iran, the US will be able to regulate up to 70% of the CCP's present-day oil needs.

CCP war planners cannot execute against Taiwan under those conditions. This takes pressure off the US in the Indo-Pacific for a while, to the net benefit of American NATO commitments in Europe.

This explanation is not entirely accurate. For a “survival-threatening situation” (sonritsu kiki jitai) to be recognized—allowing Japan to exercise the right of collective self-defense—the following conditions must be met: a country that has a close relationship with Japan must come under attack, and that attack must be deemed to pose a threat to Japan’s survival and present a clear danger that fundamentally overturns the Japanese people’s rights to freedom and the pursuit of happiness.

Because Japan does not officially recognize Taiwan as a state, an attack on Taiwan alone cannot constitute a survival-threatening situation. At a minimum, it would require intervention by the United States, Japan’s ally, and an attack against the United States itself as a precondition.

Therefore, under the law, Japan would never be the first country to intervene militarily.
