@dionsis So they are much better options but without significant investment in grid storage (which has its own issues) green energy can’t provide the balance to the grid that is just a hard requirement.
@dionsis I do agree but it’s not that they don’t cover themselves 100% for the number of KW hours used, it’s more that when those KWh are available from green sources the wholesale cost is the lowest, so they get paid much less for their excess at those times and then pay more during peak
@dionsis So while they might use say 100KW of electricity and supply 120KW, they aren’t always pushing a consistent amount of energy it will eb and flow from 0KW to whatever gives the 120KW average
@dionsis The result is that they have to pay the market rate for the units you use, but given they supply when the most energy is available they will be paid less than the gas turbine when it’s needed and so increases are related to gas prices anyway
It is worth noting I had been dreading and putting off exactly this because I assumed it would be awful to the extent of probably doing a server migration on my own time.. but nope, the nodes are moved quicker than any other part of the wind-down took..
When you think @linode can't get better as a host, I've been winding down the last bits from the old company this year and needed to transfer some servers to an account for the customer to manage billing etc. It took like 5 minutes to sort including setting up the new account
Given covid @SugarloafLions can’t do their normal food appeal and other fundraising events this Christmas, instead they have a fantastic raffle happening https://t.co/O7UcKQX9DU and get some tickets if you can, it’s a great cause helping local families in need this Christmas
Does anyone else feel like these ‘suicide’ arrow stickers that have started to appear on trailers are high offensive and a complete cop out? Most cycle lanes are on this side and most accidents could be avoided by checking mirrors properly, especially with modern mirrors…
This has to be one of the oddest bugs I’ve seen, willow turned off my data, images failed to send, hadn’t relished data was off so I resent them and Kim got this
Read a tweet save a life? This article describes what drowning looks like, I’ve spent my life by and in the sea, was in sea scouts, have first aid training but this is the first time I’ve heard this, like I said read a tweet, maybe some day save a life?
@equalityAlec That’s insane? Do they not have to prove anything? I know we have something similar in Ireland but it requires a court order in advance and is for large sums, like hey this guy has 2.5million in assets but no way to account for having earn that much money
@chapperslite@HSELive Well I mean when I heard 40% no shows it sounds like a bunch of selfish ppl holding up for everyone else, but I mean if your scheduling appointments and not telling anyone that’s a different story..
great.... just got a text to inform me I missed my 2nd vaccine appointment yesterday.. an appointment I never received contact for before this @HSELive could this be why you had 40% no shows last week? that people simply weren't told they had an appointment?
This is a really bad time to be in the middle of a renovation… it’s nearly impossible to plan a budget at the moment… every day prices are increasing and things are out of stock..
@VirginMediaIE Its getting fairly frustrating at this stage, being told different things every time I call, I understand its a complicated issue but no call backs has basically wasted a day to fix the problem.
I don't know why but it always seem like I end up in the weirdest tech support situations... Like edge case account issues. Today's is a doozy with some shockingly poor support to begin with.
@VirginMediaIE Hi Brian, still having problems, after being on the phone for 20 minutes was told a supervisor would call me within a couple of minutes. That was over 20 minutes ago and the third call back I've been told to expect but not received, could you check is there an issue calling me?
I can't decide if this is more or less strange than the time I had to chase vodafone for 6 months to actually bill me for my contract.. that ended with use splitting the difference and me getting 3 months free!
@VirginMediaIE Hi Brian, the problem isn't hardware related, it seems to be something in your backend wiped all record of my service. I've been told it's being sorted (I mentioned at the end of the thread) but am just waiting to see
