A little-known episode which surely deserves more attention.

Bari Italy was known as "Little Pearl Harbor" but few know anything about it. Over 1000 military were killed (600 were US Merchant Marine) on 28 ships that exploded. Mustard gas was on the SS John Harvey and it was aerial bombed. Yet the USMM did not receive veterans status.

Echoing Brig/Gen Charles de Gaulle's speech to the people of France the day before, Sikorski also made a speech, broadcast by the BBC, calling all Polish forces still fighting in France to evacuate to Britain & join him (& the Navy, which had arrived in 1939) to continue the war.

June 11/12: HMS Glamorgan agrees to stay longer in the gunline to the south, supporting the attack on Two Sisters with her twin 4.5" guns. North of Stanley, HMS Avenger, Arrow & Yarmouth add their fire to the maelstrom, the four firing off an incredible 788 rounds of 4.5" shells.

June 10th: From 15:30-16:30 Harriers swoop in and bomb Argentine positions with 1,000lb bombs, having something of a field day. Argentine anti-aircraft guns cannot track targets and Tiger Cat missiles are useless as positions are pounded by attacks.

June 8th: So ends the "Black Day" of the #Falklands War. In all, 56 men are killed, 150+ wounded, RFA Sir Galahad damaged beyond repair, RFA Sir Tristam badly damaged, HMS Plymouth badly damaged, LCU Foxtrot-4 lost, a Scout Helicopter lost and a Harrier GR3.
