You can't build apps using web technology? This message I have seen so many times in my life. I quit my job to work on my own social media app, Nostria. Finally I can show that it is possible, all by myself. It's hard work, but very rewarding. These days governments are cracking down on social media with age verification processes. Nostria will never require your identification, it can't. It's built on web technology, which transcends borders, cultures and governments. The web was meant to be free.
Nostria builds on Nostr, an open, decentralized protocol for censorship-resistant communication. You heard that right. And it is free, as in open-source free and free to use.
I'm not fond of rules. I don't respect the status quo ("You can't do that). You can quote me, disagree with me, glorify of vilify me. Yes, you can also ignore me. I want to push us forward and this is me, hoping that we can soon lay to rest the idea that web technology is not good enough. It is. It requires more work, but you can make it.
Stop feeding the locked in corporate app stores with these locked in native runtimes, built by the very same corporations. Did you know that Nostria has been waiting soon 5 months to be listed on the Play Store? Luckily you can use it without, but of course to get out to most users, it's unfortunately the reality.
It's not perfect, there is lots more to do, but it's just me building Nostria. I have a few friends who helped support me get to this stage, I appreciate your support with all my heart.
If you want to help Nostria with the planned global launch, please contact me. GM/PV!
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
— Steve Jobs

@telegram and @durov: Hi, what is the purpose of having phone number verification with your app?
If someone successfully creates a session (a third party attacker) with a Telegram account, it is impossible to gain access to it again. All available options require that the attacker is oblivious in either 24 hours or for at least long enough to request account deletion, wait for a code (which attacker also gets) and then attempt to delete the account.
Your support service is absolutely non-existent. The in-app support is "community" driven, and you never replies to support-form on your website.
This is very scary, considering how much people leave in their Telegram accounts. If it is taken over by an attacker, there are no way to rectify it. The owner needs to get a new phone number, to be able to create a new Telegram account. Should it not be possible for the owner of the phone number and e-mail address that is registered with your app and company, to retrieve access to their own account again?
I had no idea this was the case, it's absolutely horrible that you don't react and stop these account-farmers who obviously operate from same IP-addresses that currently controls probably thousands of Telegram accounts.
People should be very careful about using Telegram, which is an app with great usability and performance, but there is obviously massive issue with how you setup the security model for devices and account restoration.
Instead of helping out, the attacker continue to send exploit-messages to thousands of other users, infecting your social media with garbage and getting more and more people exploited, having their personal data and information stolen and harvested.
The person in question even paid to activate SMS codes, you took money for that, but no SMS code ever is received and it's not going to help anyway, with your current architecture.
I have hundreds of friends with Premium Telegram, I have had Premium Telegram for years. One would expect that you had both OpSec and support considering the amount of money that Telegram is receiving.

GPT 4.1 is not good at coding. It is dangerous, it completes tasks very quickly, but it makes very dangerous mistakes. Ask it to modify your cloud infrastructure scripts? Be careful, it will end up wiping your resources. Claude 3.7 is still the absolute performer for coding.
