Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, is donating $45 million a month to the Trump campaign.
If democracy is to survive in the US, we need to overturn Citizens United and move to public funding of elections.
We need a government that represents all, not just billionaires.
Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton has labelled Sir Keir Starmer as “hopelessly naive".
Rather ironic, wouldn't you says, from the fool whose grave miscalculation enabled the disaster of Brexit?
Winchester is one of the most marginal seats in the South. The Lib Dems were only 985 votes behind the Conservatives at the last General Election. If you want to help get rid of this appalling incompetent government, then come and help Danny Chambers win Winchester.
Suella Braverman, "These are supposed to be some of the brightest and the best students in the land, and taught in the art of articulating their views. And expressing arguments in a coherent way. And I'me interested in hearing their argument. Engaging and listening"
Cambridge university students ignore Suella Braverman who repeatedly asks why they are protesting. None of them want to speak with her.
"A silent protest is an organized effort where the participants stay quiet to demonstrate disapproval. It is used as a form of civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance"
Mark Carney, former BoE governor says Brexiteers destroyed the future for Britain;listen to his wise words;why can’t politicians admit when their decisions are wrong & damaging—leave your egos at home! Think country first, egos last!
In case you missed it ...
Here's Dominic Cummings admitting that it was illicit data mining and an online propaganda blitz after Jo Cox's muder (when both sides had agreed to stop campaigning) that brought about the Leave referendum win. We now know it was financed illegally too
And … the economic damage is not the worst part of Brexit. Speak to anyone involved in the diplomatic world and they will tell you that British influence is severely diminished. And that is a very bad thing indeed in an increasingly unstable world. How anyone in government with half a brain could have advocated this path is beyond me.
Listen to this Victoria Derbyshire interview with an asylum seeker…
…it absolutely blows the Rwanda narrative out of the water. THIS is what has been entirely missing from the national conversation - the viewpoints and motivations of asylum seekers.
RIP my friend Tim Evans.
Tim passed away, age 63, on Tuesday evening. Many in the pro-European community will know him from his constant energy and exuberant entertainment... in his own inimitable, warm, huggable style. He was a deeply lovely guy who always brought out a sense of fun in others. Ever with a twinkle of mischief in his eye.
He founded Surrey for Europe, then NE Surrey for Europe, inspired Mole Valley European Movement, and was a lead entertainer in the No10 “vigils” back in the Theresa May days. Most recently, he chaired my visit to the NE Surrey for Europe group on Feb 29th – just two weeks ago – one day after my birthday and three days before his. We had dinner in his favourite Italian restaurant, had a great event full of questions and ideas, we signed each other’s birthday cards, and he was in fine fettle. His sudden, unexpected passing at such an age has shocked lots of us. Gone way, way too soon.
It's his feel-good warmth and humour that I'll miss most. That cheeky grin. He made everything fun. RIP pal.
@Peter_Henley@DannyVet@libdemdaisy Sir John Moore barracks, a perfect position for a new hospital! Easily accessible to Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester, whilst releasing valuable city centre site for alternative developments.
Campaigners are suggesting an alternative to closing Winchester A&E. Lib Dem Danny Chambers brought a 20k petition to Parliament today. He and Daisy Cooper are calling for John Moore barracks to be used instead of Basingstoke
Britain’s malaise won’t stop until we exit from Brexit and @GordonBrown makes it clear how urgent this is:
“Our growth levels are half what they were in the last two or three decades. Our productivity levels are now lower. The growth rate is now lower than it was at any time since the Industrial Revolution.”
“Investment in this country is far lower as a percentage of national income than among all our major competitors. As a result of that, standards of living for people in this country continue to fall.”
“We need to think with almost military precision about how we can put our economy on a war footing so that we are in a position to solve the problems I’ve just identified.”
Right in the middle of a news & data deluge on how Brexit is battering the UK economy UK news shows are deliberately avoiding “Brexit” in the list of things battering the UK economy ahead of Wednesday’s budget
If you think they should be pointing it out RT this widely
On many issues where public opinion was bitterly divided (e.g. banning smoking in pubs, or legalisation of same-sex marriage), it moved to strong support once the decision was taken & implemented.
Not so with Brexit, where it hasn't rallied around, but shifted steadily against
