When will @usnews take into account what it's like to work at these hospitals, resident to patient ratios, and how safe residents feel taking care of their patients? Because that affects the patient experience more than NIH funding.

Four years ago I had suicidal ideation due to repeated sleep deprivation. I was a resident working long hours, including 28-hour calls.

Sleep deprivation is an independent risk factor for suicide. Any discussion about resident wellness is wholly inadequate if it excludes sleep.

.@acgme wants to remove the requirement to have Resident Physicians trained by Board-Certified Physicians. We can NOT lower the bar for teaching faculty, degrade the training experience for physicians, and endanger the clinical care our patients receive!

on my 1 month PICU rotation last summer I had several patients with gunshot wounds - some who will never have even close to full neurological recovery. It pains me to think this could have been prevented and I hope congress will #putkids1st and #EndGunViolence
