Paper tickets for the United end were being collected from the ticket collection point today… one couple told us they’d paid £700 online for their pair.

Meanwhile, Loyalty Pot, Execs and Standard Pot tickets were all issued digitally today.
So whose tickets were these paper ones, and why wasn’t anyone asking questions?

I'd like to know if executive season ticket holders are experiencing a rise in their success rates for away tickets.

If not, I wonder where those extra tickets are being allocated and where they've been moved from, as it's definitely not the Loyalty Pot allocation.

The club should republish the data so we can all see for ourselves that you've changed the distribution of tickets, with executive ticket allocation more than doubling compared to last season.

So come on, which pot have they come from, you telling them or am I?

Following yesterday's post, a clear theme has emerged regarding the supporters whose tickets were flagged for collection.

Apparent Criteria for Ticket Flagging:
Reports suggest tickets were selected for verification based on technical triggers, specifically:
•Repeated Downloads: The ticket has been downloaded onto multiple devices
•Account Access: Multiple attempts to access the associated ticketing accounts.

Intrusive Verification Demands:
When attempting to verify identity, supporters were subjected to a range of invasive and unacceptable demands, including being asked to:
•Unlock their phone to simply display the ticket (fair enough)
•Display account relationships within the app (showing who they have 'linked' accounts with).
•Show bank cards or payment details stored in their mobile wallet as identification.
•Show Social Media apps to validate your ID.
•Navigate to their phone's settings to display the "Phone Name"

It is entirely unacceptable that multiple reports indicate a Manchester United staff member physically took the supporter's mobile phone to navigate the handset themselves, which constitutes a significant violation of personal space and privacy.

Further Issues and Staff Conduct:
Further complicating matters, some supporters report that the tickets flagged for collection were already printed out in the name of the person being called forward.
Crucially, the conduct of the staff member behind the counter was repeatedly described as rude, untrusting, and accusatory. Supporters felt they were treated as "guilty until proven innocent" (a familiar sentiment, considering the current appeals process). They noted that the staff member appeared visibly annoyed or put out when a person successfully proved their identity and was issued their ticket.

The club's inevitable defence will be: "We're going after touts and acting on specific intelligence." While going after touts is necessary, the fact that loyal, innocent supporters dedicating time and money to attend matches are being subjected to these strict and illegal checks means that something needs to change.

We must question this "intelligence." How can the club claim to have the specific, detailed intelligence required to target touts, yet simultaneously demonstrate clear underinvestment in the ticket office (evidenced by recent redundancies)? I question the level of intelligence being gathered and why it may generate more revenue for the club.

One of the possible motives here is financial; banning supporters effectively increases club revenue by making tickets available for resale or reallocation.

Transparency is key from now on.
