@Chocoalatt@ronancebunny this is soo well said! love when ppl can argue w/o being rude or losing sight of what the show actually is:) i also liked how you mentioned el has no problem telling mike off when he fucks up, she has strong boundaries! and autonomy in her relationship! ppl like to disregard that
@girlfailureceo@wheelerjanez it’s been a longggg time since i read suspicious minds i honestly dont remember 😭 but if they were using college kids for those experiments that’s crazy
also fun fact, terry and becky live in bloomington, indiana, which is home to none other than indiana university! the thought of el graduating with her mom there and then going off to college... i'm sick right now
el really is so clever and her emotional intelligence goes so unnoticed. i don't think any of the other characters would've known how to survive this, but she knew exactly what to say and how to hit billys soft spot so he'd be able to fight it + have mercy on her
@milevapop right and if failing a high school math test is the ultimate marker of intelligence then i’m stupid asf😭 mind u, i’m in STEM now and received an A- or higher in some of the hardest math classes in my major after i spent time reviewing some basics. just because you got an unfair—
my jane au isn't a full no-lab au, more like terry escapes before els born. so i can see jane majoring in social work or psych to help people like her mama! and thats where she meets mike whose an english lit major coming from a neighboring small town Are you walking with me...
when mike refers to her as his superhero, i like to think this is what hes referring to. its not just about having powers (those don't automatically make you a HERO) its that her empathy and courage take her so far! 💗 my sweet brave girl
@honeybunwife@Sandysndlr there wasn’t anything noble about it. she didn’t die saving friends from vecna, she committed suicide bc she thought she would never escape her abusers. she didn’t get a funeral and in the end, they couldn’t even fully commit to it and went the “ambiguous” route. pathetic.
@brutelouthere my issue with the ending as well. you cant centre a show on non-comformity and then the only characters you kill off/punish are the victims of government corruption, because they’re just TOO different and there’s no place for them. like what. how inconsistent and gross
@aaliyaharchivez@hermioneterrier they view el and what happened to her as punishment for mike while thinking they're exempt from misogyny because the duffers are misogynists too😭 not how it works i fear
@elaegyo the problem with #his stans is that they associate flaws and criticism with unlikeability. yes, el acted out of jealousy and violence and she shouldn’t have! but it makes sense with her trauma! you can like a character and admit when they’re wrong and these ppl don’t get that
