August 24, 1991.
Ukraine’s parliament voted and declared independence from the Soviet Union.
Ninety percent of the room said yes.
Months later, a national referendum confirmed it ,over 90% of the entire country agreed.
Just like that, almost 70 years of Soviet rule… ended.
Every year since, August 24th belongs to Ukraine.

Shame on you.
You can be Ukrainian by birth, by citizenship, by roots or simply by spirit.
What matters is believing in freedom and standing with those who defend it.
