India is growing despite over whelming odds:

1. GLOBAL TRADE SHOCK
WTO's 2026 world merchandise-trade growth forecast was cut from 2.5% to 0.5%. An 80% collapse in the projected pace of global trade growth.

2. ENERGY SHOCK
India imports roughly 85-88% of its crude. The West Asia conflict sent energy prices and shipping risks higher as almost nothing flowed out of Hormuz.

3. CAPITAL-FLOW SHOCK
Foreign investors dumped Rs 1.53 lakh crore from Indian markets in FY26, the biggest annual FPI outflow on record.

4. EQUITY OUTFLOW
Foreign investors pulled $20bn+ from Indian equities in first four months of 2026 itself.

5. GEOPOLITICAL & TARIFF SHOCK
Trump's unpredictable sanctions unnerved global investment making them cautious.

The UPA didn’t make fuel cheaper. It 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭—leaving taxpayers to foot the bill years later.

That’s the real cost of reckless fiscal politics: weaken the economy today, hide the bill for tomorrow. The Modi government inherited the liability, honoured the commitments, and finally cleared the last of the UPA-era oil bonds.
