@RogersHistory Constantly weighing the pig doesn’t make it fatter. At what point did teachers give up their qualifications to enable them to be constantly micromanaged and scrutinised as if they weren’t qualified? I doubt SLT are having unannounced scrutiny of their work!
@Kiera__Marshall Those leaving teaching are in their 20-30’s not late 50s or older as you’d expect. Retention is the issue. No one stays in the job anymore due to the workload pressures, inflexibility and the amount of unpaid hours.
@niamh_salkeld There’s nothing tangible in the manifesto to address retention. Workload, inflexible working conditions, working hours, behaviour and underfunding are the main issues causing loss. Neither of which can be addressed by throwing 20k at a graduate to fill a teaching position.
@LBCNewsWales Didn’t work before, and it’s not going to work again. Fix the retention of teachers instead. As yourself why they are leaving and not being replaced.
@RhunapIorwerth@Plaid_Cymru This won’t fix the long-term retention of teachers. This money would be better spent providing schools with everything they need to deliver the high-quality education as ours is poorly equipped and not fit for purpose. Look after your current teachers, these new ones won’t stay
@jenteach13 Stop doing it as it’s unpaid. All teachers need to stop working when the school day ends. This is a job, exchange your time for money. The only ones that will remember the hours of your free time wasted will be your family.
@DanielKebedeNEU It’s about time that workload was sorted out. At a time where the cost-of-living is so high, it is a complete insult that teachers have to work after hours for free just to fulfil a policy.
