I don’t accept the argument that basically says, “maybe J. LaSalle signed onto some bad decisions, but he also signed onto some good ones”. How is that a valid argument for confirmation? We should legitimately expect a chief judge who won't issue or sign onto bad decisions.

It's a very weird argument that tends to reaffirm the argument against LaSalle. He might be viewed by Senate Dems as an acceptable pick from a Republican governor with a Dem Senate — or even a Dem gov with a GOP Senate. But that's not the case here, a Dem gov with a Dem Senate.
