Today in Addis Ababa, the #AfCFTA Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Union on the margins of the EU–Ethiopia Business Forum, reinforcing their partnership to support the implementation of the AfCFTA.
In his opening remarks at the Forum, @MeneWamkele, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, underscored that the #AfCFTA is advancing a predictable, rules-based continental market, strengthening Africa’s position as a competitive investment destination.
The MoU, signed by the Secretary-General and EU Commissioner Jozef Síkela, reflects a maturing Africa–EU partnership, with a growing focus on trade and investment cooperation anchored in mutual interests and shared commitment.

President Mahama has announced that, effective 25th May 2026, during the commemoration of Africa Day, Ghana will commence a free visa regime for all Africans. Africans travelling to Ghana will receive their e-visas online, free of charge.
Speaking during bilateral talks with the President of Zimbabwe, he assured the public that adequate systems have been put in place to screen prospective visitors and to ensure that the security of Ghana is not compromised.
He said as a cradle of pan-Africanism, Ghana believes it has a historic responsibility to remain open to Africans from across the continent.
