Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.
Afghanistan has passed 21 laws this year restricting the basic freedoms of women.
The UN has passed zero resolutions condemning them. Complete moral bankruptcy.
❤️SHE MATTERS: JULIE SEED!❤️
Today, 38-year-old property manager Julie (Julez) Seed was at work in Plympton, South Australia, when a stranger stabbed her. She did not survive. The male accused also stabbed another woman, leaving her seriously injured.
Julie is the 73rd Australian woman killed this year and the fourth woman killed this month. She is the second woman killed in as many days.
Like most women killed this year, Julie's life was stolen by an alleged act of male violence.
Last year we lost 66 women to acts of violence - this year the toll stands at 73. That's seven more deaths and the year has not yet ended.
With such a large number of women killed, we owe it to their families, their communities and to ourselves to have a national royal commission into femicide in Australia. It should examine every violent death of Australian women - including those lost to domestic violence, associate violence and stranger violence so ALL women's lives and deaths are recognised. We need a thorough examination and sustained national conversation about the killing of women and men's violence.
73 women killed this year is 73 too many.
One is too many.
RIP XXX! ❤️

I document ALL unlawful deaths of women and children, regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship between the person killed and the accused. This means not every death is due to domestic and family violence. Australians are also killed by strangers, friends, colleagues, neighbours and other people known to them.

The lack of indoor courts in Geelong is astonishing. The biggest, and we think best, regional city in Victoria going without. And not just indoor courts, our outdoor courts are bursting at the seems. @GreaterGeelong@geelongaddy@netballvic

🇦🇺 In case you missed it, Aussie runner @jessicahull143 smashed the Australian and Oceania Record for the Mile, with the eighth fastest women's time in history — 4:15.34 at Monaco. It wiped off almost three-seconds from a previous best last month.
Would you believe I've written another netball yarn? This one involves one of my favourite local netty icons Judi and a team of Gippsland over 60s who took out a gold medal! Procing once again netty is for everyone! (and the superior sport)

Microplastics have officially been found in human breast milk for the first time in a new study that detected the contaminant in 75% of the samples tested after we also found microplastics inside the lungs and crossing the blood-brain barrier. This is our generation's lead paint.
In 1995, 14 wolves were released into the wild in Yellowstone National Park. Scientists at the time did not suspect that this would radically change the entire ecosystem of the park. 1/n
