#ONStorm#ONwx ⚡️ Environment Canada Forecasting Risk of Severe Thunderstorms on Thursday Across Southern Ontario
Here’s a look at Environment Canada’s latest thunderstorm outlook for Thursday afternoon and evening.
A ‘moderate’ risk has been issued for Deep Southwestern Ontario, extending through the Golden Horseshoe and into southern portions of Eastern Ontario. The main threats include wind gusts up to 90 km/h and heavy rainfall of 25 to 50 mm.
This includes communities such as Windsor, Sarnia, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Toronto, Barrie, Peterborough and Kingston.
A ‘minor’ risk is also in place for portions of Grey-Bruce, Central Ontario and the Ottawa Valley, where the primary concern is heavy rainfall of 25 to 50 mm.
Based on the latest data, the severe weather threat has shifted a bit farther southeast compared to what we were seeing last night. Right now, it appears the greatest potential could be focused across the Golden Horseshoe and areas along the Lake Ontario shoreline, in addition to Deep Southwestern Ontario.
We’ll be releasing our own preliminary forecast shortly with a more detailed breakdown of the timing, hazards and areas of concern. Stay tuned!
