One of the dangers of witnessing so much cruelty is that nothing shocks you anymore.
Guard your heart against numbness by helping others in whatever way you can.
The suffering of another human being should never become background noise simply because there is too much of it.
I was reading Surah An'am today and I came across a verse that translates to:
"Your Lord has made it obligatory on Himself to be merciful to you.”
I put my Quran down & took a deep sigh. A higher being, who has nothing to gain from me, has made it compulsory on Himself to be merciful to me?. 😭🤲🏽
Been on this app for years and this is the first time I'm seeing Nigeria lose a cyber war.
Crazy when you even think it's to Namibia 💔😂😂
Not South Africa, not Ghana, not Kenya. Not USA.
N A M I B I A 😂
Everyone is tested differently.
Some with “natural” disasters.
Others with pure cruelty.
Some with an enemy who hates them. Others with a loved one who doesn’t love them back.
Some with blinding wealth. Others with gripping poverty.
Your job isn’t to compare tests.
It’s to pass yours.
And being pleased with the One who decreed it can carry you through it all.
I wanted to complain about someone oppressing me. Then I saw settlers burn a man alive in Palestine in my home village for merely existing on his land.
I wanted to complain about someone trying to hurt my family and livelihood, then I saw a woman mocked in Sudan before being killed for seeking a loaf of bread for her son.
I wanted to complain about being flooded with anxiety, then I saw the tents in Gaza flood, as if the spilling of their blood wasn’t enough.
All along the political prisoners shout at me and say at least you still have a voice outside of these prison walls.
All praise is due to Allah for what He has given me. And I seek His forgiveness for all that we have failed to give for them.
One of the most beautiful metaphors in the entire Qur’an: Parents once lowered their wings to protect their children with mercy and sacrifice, and now that role is returned to the child. The lesson is that honoring parents is not mere duty, but a conscious act of gratitude rooted in compassion and remembrance.
