As a military brat, moving every two years taught me a valuable lesson: most of the stuff I owned weighed me down without adding value. Since then, I’ve been mindful of every item I bring into my home. Less truly is better.
Underconsumption core has restored (some of) my faith in social media.
It promotes buying less but better — long overdue. Think of it as an anti-fast fashion movement against brands like Shein and Temu flooding the market with cheap, disposable junk.
There’s a tension between buying less/buying better and the allure of trends. That’s why platforms like Shein keep growing. The stats are telling:
- 1 in 3 Gen Z’ers say they feel addicted to fast fashion.
- But 65% want to shop more sustainably.
Will this be a lasting change or just another trend? What’s your take?
