Let’s flip the scenario. If TOE was standing in front of a white man of the same age and corporate level, would he react the same way? Probably not.

The culture is different.

That is where the trainee missed the mark. You can read all the company policies about flat hierarchies, but you have to understand the culture that binds the society you operate in.

It is the same cultural undertone at play when people refer to President Tinubu as 'our father'.

Corporate rules are fine, but situational awareness will save you.

Sometimes people ask why I don’t drink or why I would make a tweet like the one below. I’ll tell you why.

I pray five times a day, and maintaining those prayers has not always been easy.

During Army training, they would start putting us through hell at around 5 a.m. and continue until about 9 p.m. On my first night, they smoked us from 11 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. Even after they left the room, I still prayed. I eventually slept around 2:30 a.m., knowing the lights would come on before 4 a.m.

Every morning, I prayed Fajr before everyone was ready to leave the room. Then, after returning around 9:30 p.m., my body having taken the kind of beating designed for 18-year-olds, I would complete the other four prayers I had missed during the day.

I did this every day for ten weeks. Sundays were better because I could usually pray on time. Eventually, even the Drill Sergeants knew me. They knew this one would rather die than abandon his prayers.

During the days we spent in the forest, at the height of the November and December cold, I would ask another soldier to pull security for me. I would perform ablution and pray inside that freezing foxhole while the ground seemed determined to pull every bit of warmth from my body.

I cannot say that I have always lived as good a Muslim as I should have, certainly not to the standard my teachers hoped I would attain. But I continue to pray so that, at the very least, when I meet my God, ká lè rí nǹkan mú délé.

After going through all of that, I will now drink for 30 minutes and risk having 40 days of prayer rejected?

Or, at over 60 years old, with stage-four cancer and death unfortunately having significantly better odds, I would agree to be taken somewhere that could invalidate a lifetime of prayer without even significantly improving my chances of survival?

Did you hear what she said? She said, "Whoever communicates with God through a medium or another person is also offering a libation." Meaning, once you set up a medium or an intercessor to reach God, you are committing Shirk.

Remember in Suratul Zumar, when The pagans tried to justify their idols by saying:

مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَا إِلَى اللَّهِ زُلْفَىٰ
"We only worship them so that they may bring us closer to Allah in position."

They believed in Allah, but they wanted a medium to reach Him. That is the root of Shirk.

Woe on to you as a Muslim if this woman understands Tawheed better than you do.

Mind you, she can’t shake hands with anyhow men like you. For the record, she can shake hands with her husband, her father, her grandfathers, her sons, her brothers, her paternal and maternal uncles, and her nephews.

Unfortunately, you and any of those men in the video are not among them, so you have no right to a handshake and you should respect that. Boundary setting is a choice, deal with it.

That crying is the sound of a growing ummah. And it is a test of our own concentration. Instead of getting annoyed, we should be offering a smile or a bit of help to the mother who is likely more stressed than anyone else in the room.

Your "not compulsory" argument is technically true, however, it is often used to exclude women. Just because you don't have to be there doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to be there.

A mosque that is perfectly quiet is a mosque that is dying out. We should be grateful for the noise because it means there is a next generation coming up behind us.

My favorite Qur’an reciter is my mom. and wallahi, nothing comes close.
Every day after Asr, she would sit on her prayer mat and recite, and the whole house would go quiet, not because we were told to, but because her voice would calm everything inside us.

After Isha, she would gather us in the living room and teach us the Qur’an. One page every week, and on Sunday we would give hadda. If you failed you already knew there was punishment with house chores. No one ever wanted to fail, Because if you did, you’d be stuck doing chores, and my siblings would tease you for the whole week But today, I’d do anything just to fail again and hear her correct me one more time🥹😭

My dad used to say whenever she recited, he would listen until he fell asleep.

Until she passed away and left us in this world, and the house has never sounded the same. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus and forgive her shortcomings. Ameen ya Rabb🥹😭🤲🏾
