#F1 | Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari the INSIDE STORY 🚨

John Elkaan informally called Lewis last May (around Monaco GP) and said “Lewis come to Ferrari, we want you here” and that they could offer him the world. Lewis said no.

According to Lawrence Barretto, that chat in May was the last time it was only an informal chat. John gave Lewis another call closer to winter, and told him Ferrari can offer him a multi-year deal, laying all the terms out.

At that time Lewis Hamilton had just signed a 1+1 with Mercedes. BUT prior to he had gone to Mercedes and asked for a THREE-YEAR deal to which Mercedes said they could only give him a one-year deal – and they ended up compromising to this 1+1 with exit clauses.

Barretto imagines that Lewis must’ve felt some type of way about how Mercedes dealt with him, and then John Elkaan called him AGAIN – putting it on a balance Lewis saw a bigger opportunity with Ferrari than with Mercedes. And now we’re here.
