“He said, ‘You didn’t just lose, you always lose.’ That was a very insulting thing to say. I took it personally because there is a difference between having a laugh after a game and deliberately trying to disrespect another player.

“I was angry in that moment, but my teammates intervened and stopped the situation from going any further. I understand football is emotional and there will always be banter, but I don’t think a footballer should address a fellow footballer like that.

“We can compete, we can talk, we can celebrate when we win, but there has to be respect between players. I shook it off eventually, but what he said was unnecessary and I definitely took it personally.”
