Bitcoin's total energy usage is determined primarily from market capitalization and difficulty adjustments, not transaction volume.
In other words, the marginal bitcoin transaction/spending choice has virtually no impact on bitcoin's total energy usage.
1/18 #Bitcoin blockchain data received by satellite connection instead of an internet connection. Made possible by @Blockstream
A thread on installing & operating a #Bitcoin satellite node on a RaspberryPi. The power of censorship resistance grows stronger everyday.
Massive thanks to all the ETH devs working on what is a #bitcoin test-net.
Everything you build which makes sense will end up on #bitcoin.
You can’t play real poker with matchsticks so your sacrifice is appreciated.
20. Jim Cramer (lol) calls USDT a ticking time bomb two weeks ago saying that he has “Chinese sources” that suggest this paper is Chinese. In order for him to come out and say this publicly my guess is he has a pretty reliable birdie https://t.co/3XvxNVwsfA
19. Yellen and Powell in the past weeks each have urged the need to “act quickly” on stablecoins. This is written off as regulators late to the punch but Tether has been around for a while with nearly no focus AND these people all know that USDT isn’t in US money markets at all!

Buckets that people store value in:
Gold: $8T
Stocks: $75T
Fiat: $90T
Real Estate: $220T
Then someone figured out how to make an Internet-native digital scarcity, thus:
Bitcoin: $60B
In a post-industrial Internet age, do we really think it'll remain a thimble not a bucket?
