The worst place on Earth is the inside of your own mind. OCD sufferer here, just telling my own story hoping it can help others. (note: not a professional)
I have struggled with #harmocd for over 30 years. Spent most of that time thinking I’m a monster for having such awful intrusive thoughts about other people. Thankfully in the last few years I have realised, through research, that I suffer from OCD.
For most of my adult life I had intrusive thoughts about harming my beautiful Mum, right up until the day she died of a stroke in March 2019. The guilt and shame never lessen. I can’t turn back the clock and change any of it which causes me so much pain. Harm #OCD is brutal.
Having a really off day today, barely functioning. Life is so bloody hard sometimes, it can really be mentally overwhelming. So envious of anyone who just gets on and does things right now. Worst day for ages. Sometimes we just need to STOP and recharge #MentalHealthMatters
@beckysowsseeds I’m finding socialising a lot more draining these days, especially since lockdowns and getting back to ‘normal’, and definitely need time to recharge afterwards. I’m certainly choosing my own company a lot more these days. PJs and Switch sound a good combo!
@OCDphilosophy Agreed. An absolute relief to know it’s not just me, and that others struggle with it too. Couldn’t believe it when I found out, I’d just assumed it would be something I’d hide forever as I’d already kept it hidden for so long. If only there had been support at the time.
