pretty basic stuff here but the core systems are functioning! stoked to reveal some of the characteristics that make this one a little different from the pack

[MindForge @MindForge9]

Hi folks! Pardon the lack of activity, some major life events to sort out the last little while. Hoping to get back to dev soon - thanks to everyone who's liked and followed my progress so far :)

[MindForge @MindForge9]

Scale 3 is looking beefy! Gotta add some more gunz variety...

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@disconcision *whistles 'Sawyer's Tune' jauntily*

[MindForge @MindForge9]

Landship blockout... very ugly, but it should give a good clue for one of the gameplay modes :D Couldn't get the idea out of my head since 'Big Wars' (1993)... not a great film, but I sure loved those naval-scale tanks!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@helonegimiso Just been watching gundam 00 the last little bit and I quite enjoyed the menacing appearance of it! Will probably have to lift a bit of design influence :D

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@NoQuarterSoft Gameplay loops aren't really there yet, but the systems are mostly built!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

third-person view getting established, jump and glide modes in-play... gotta add some thruster VFX there, but it's pretty fun to fiddle with! still some jank to sort out of course

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@ggsimm Claude makes me a lot of code things! Still a ways off from main gameplay loops, been building out tools and systems, but vibe coding has extended what I could do before by light years - now the stretch feature goals are mostly built.

still lots more to do, as ever, but some good progress! building destruction should be a real 'blast' :D

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@UBadler Yeah like the other things I have ingame right now; i rig in Blender then set up a procedural IK rig, record directional motion animation in UE, bake to VAT for swarm units and keep the IK for player-controller hero units :)

[MindForge @MindForge9]

Feeling a bit uninspired, but it'll do for now I guess! Staying cheap at 13k tris, thinking this'll be at the next scale of bigness, ~16m or so. Am I too cheap using 128-512px textures on my smaller unit parts? Time will tell I guess :P

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@MoonWalkerLD Haha well I might have to do a higher rez pass anyway for mechbay closeups, don't have to have loaded for gameplay though ^_^ good to stay thrifty though if I want all modes playable on lower-end hardware!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@UBadler Thank you! I am indeed; from Lightwave to XSI to Blender, it's been a journey! Blender's really nice these days!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@DeltyThe73rd Read the books!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

Little off-base today, so toodling around with some meshwork... sooo many assets to make still oof

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@DavidNyann ctrl+alt click, as mentioned!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@ninjadynamics Don't forget the nicotine!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@KryyssX But what about giant tank-battleships? Underused :D

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@johanvinet TestGameProject[iteration][engineVersion] :P

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@BustaSnutt @johanvinet The project naming files will remember!

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@IndieBandits granular per-cell building destruction, why not?

still lots more to do, as ever, but some good progress! building destruction should be a real 'blast' :D

[MindForge @MindForge9]

@BrownCoyoteStu Cheers thanks! Player char gets the fully procedural IK treatment so it should come out decent :D Baked VAT anims for the horde bwhaha ^_^
