Scientists have identified warning signals in the #blood that can predict #lungcancer more than five years before the disease is diagnosed, a #breakthrough that could help tackle one of India's deadliest cancers, where most patients are detected only at an advanced stage. The findings are particularly relevant for #India, where lung cancer cases are projected to rise from about 63,700 in 2015 to more than 81,000 by 2025 and nearly 80-85% of patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage.
Published in Cell, the study identified a 14-protein #bloodsignature that predicted lung cancer risk a median of 5.6 years before diagnosis, potentially enabling earlier monitoring, screening and preventive interventions. @timesofindia

Hypertension is increasingly affecting teenagers and young adults in India because of rising stress, obesity, poor sleep and unhealthy lifestyles, silently damaging the brain, heart and kidneys long before symptoms appear, doctors and #public#healthexperts warned on Thursday ahead of #WorldHypertensionDay on May 17. Calling hypertension a “#silentkiller”, Union minister of state for health and family welfare Prataprao Jadhav said changing lifestyles and neglect of physical and mental health were contributing to rising hypertension among younger people. @timesofindia@MoHFW_INDIA

#WATCH | Jewar, UP | BJP MLA Dhirendra Singh says, "... The day the site opened (for flight tickets at Noida International Airport), I noticed that the tickets displayed on the site were over Rs 5,000, but at the same time, if we had taken a ticket from Delhi Airport, for a Lucknow to Delhi flight, the fare would have been around Rs 3,000... The VAT on turbine aviation fuel is 1% here, while at Delhi Airport it is 25%. People should have benefited from this difference. I am not happy with the arbitrary actions of private companies. As an MLA, it was my duty... I have requested the Prime Minister, the Aviation Minister, and those associated with Aviation in the Indian government, and the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, to consider this matter..."
