Did you know that getting closer to nature can help to protect our mental health? Nearly half of people in the UK told us that visiting green spaces, such as parks, helped them to cope throughout the pandemic.

It can take a lot of courage to tell someone how you’re really feeling or what you’re finding tough – but it can also be really worth it 💬. Talking things through with someone you trust can help protect your mental health and lift the weight off your shoulders 💚.

It’s World Mental Health Day 🌎. An opportunity to talk about mental health. To share tips & advice. And to let people know that it’s okay to ask for help if you’re struggling 💚. #WMHD#MentalHealth#WorldMentalHealthDay
Right now,we need to practice what we preach and understand that it's okay to ask for help when you need it. A monthly gift of £1 would help us ensure no one in Shetland has to face mental health problems alone⭐️

This week we've been at South Newing prehistoric house site in Shetland doing some community survey with @mindyourhead. As part of their Suicide Prevention Awareness Week we've been exploring the positive effect engaging with heritage can have on our wellbeing and mental health.
What sets #WorldSuicidePreventionDay apart from many campaign days?
It is more than raising awareness, it is a challenge to the secrecy & shame that have surrounded suicide.
And a moment of commemoration for families whose tragic stories have transformed public understanding.
One in every 100 deaths worldwide is the result of suicide. Preventing suicide is often possible and we are all key players in its prevention. This week we'll be highlighting both local efforts and individual action we can take to prevent suicides⭐
